Corrections & Retractions
Wilma Global Journals is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the scholarly record. While every effort is made to ensure that articles are correct at the time of publication, errors may occasionally occur.
This policy outlines the procedures for handling corrections, retractions, withdrawals, and updates to published work.
1. Corrections (Errata and Corrigenda)
- Erratum: Issued when the error is introduced by the journal (e.g., typesetting or editorial mistakes).
- Corrigendum: Issued when the error originates from the author(s) (e.g., mislabelled figure, incorrect data reference).
Corrections are published promptly, linked to the original article, and clearly marked to ensure transparency for readers.
Corrections do not undermine the overall reliability of the article.
2. Retractions
A retraction may be issued when:
- There is evidence of research misconduct (plagiarism, data fabrication, unethical research practices).
- Findings are unreliable due to honest error or flawed methodology.
- The article has been published elsewhere without proper disclosure (duplicate publication).
- Authors fail to disclose significant conflicts of interest.
Procedure:
- Retraction requests may come from authors, readers, reviewers, or editors.
- The editorial team investigates in line with COPE guidelines.
- If warranted, a retraction notice is published and linked to the original article.
- The article may be watermarked as Retracted while remaining accessible for the scholarly record.
3. Article Withdrawal
In rare cases, a manuscript may be withdrawn before formal publication (for example, at the author’s request due to errors or ethical disputes).
Withdrawals are documented, and the article record is maintained for accountability.
4. Article Replacement
Where an article contains serious but unintentional errors, authors may submit a corrected version.
- The corrected version is published with a notice that it replaces the previous version.
- Both versions remain accessible for transparency.
5. Editorial Expressions of Concern
If a serious issue arises but conclusive evidence is not yet available (such as a pending institutional investigation), the journal may publish an Editorial Expression of Concern to alert readers until a final decision is made.
6. Transparency and Accessibility
All corrections, retractions, and related notices are freely accessible and permanently linked to the original publication.
The integrity of the scholarly record is preserved, ensuring that readers are aware of any post-publication updates.
7. Ethical Compliance
Wilma Global Journals follows COPE guidelines and international best practices in managing corrections and retractions.
All actions are handled fairly, transparently, and consistently across publications.
